Zara-Ra (referred to only as Zara, but established to be from the House of Ra) is a Kryptonian woman of high status living on New Krypton. She is in an arranged marriage with Kal-El since birth, and according to Kryptonian law, is married to him. On Earth, she's known by the human name of Sarah, and worked at the Daily Planet for a month while testing Superman to see if he was worthy of being her husband. She was assisted by Ching, her bodyguard, in this endeavor. (Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman - "Through a Glass, Darkly") Zara has feelings for Ching but conceals them in order to do her duty by being Kal-El's wife, despite her seeming awareness that her forbidden love is reciprocated (in "Big Girls Don't Fly", she shows no surprise when Kal-El says he suspects Ching is in love with her).
